ICB5401 Professional Practice

Week 4, the first year students went to Noho Marea where it was historical in those carving lines and where we learned a lot of historical knowledge in which the most impressed me was Dr. Karlo Mias, from her speech I learned To a lot of useful knowledge and understanding about magic Mona.
It is very rich in cultural meaning which is deeply attracted my curiosity, she talked about the commonalities of the Pacific and Hawaii Island, including the cultural characteristics, the spirit, language, and now the changes brought to the people there Which valuable “wealth”, which he analyzed and evaluated to sort out a lot of key information and show us a more thorough understanding of the Pacific culture. She also has great knowledge of artistic knowledge and poetry.

Industry symposium

In the industry symposium, two guest speakers were deeply attracted to me, they were Laura lochhead and Jeff Thompson. Their artistic accomplishments in their respective fields were very high and their speeches showed a high degree of focus on their work They love art and design. They are dedicated to the cause of their love it is worth my respect worthy of my study.

First, a symposium speaker he is a “walking artist”, he has been to many places such as some cities in New Zealand, the surrounding islands and Australia, leaving a lot of amazing works out there. He loves horses, and he recruits some 2-hand steel as a material, made a lot of large steel horse models and some kangaroos, giraffe models. It really shocked me, whether from the technical level or material aspects of these have to spend a lot of energy in it. He traveled with his assistant in many places, using a variety of ways to transport material and sometimes faced with challenges, such as in the torrential island, he made a long scroll steel structure, extending from the peninsula to the beach. The biggest challenge for the completion of this work is how to transport so much steel, collect it on the local island and transport them ……. it’s really incredible that this love is not afraid of any challenge admirable. His artistic attainments are already very high and are influential sculptors in New Zealand. His source of inspiration is also very rich, he is always looking for inspiration in life, his art of exploration and dedication to the sculpture art is admirable worthy of my study.

Another lady guest, Laura Lochhead. She is an intelligent, optimistic designer. Her team is dedicated to interior design, and her speech revolves around her experience of art and her work. Her professional skills are very strong. Complete many nice interior design. Unique design style and bold color selection of these let her in the interior design industry to become one of the best. As an alumnus, she has many merits worth learning from us. Her team is engaged in two interior design industries, commercial interior design and residential interior design. In my opinion, her house design work attracted my attention. For example, the kitchen design, whether from the color of the design concept or the kitchen of each object placed in the flexibility are unique, it also shows her love of her professional and focus.

On the other hand, I am also interested in her business interior design, and her idea is to place a swing in the office and with logs as a seat for the staff to rest, which gives the whole company a sense of nature. This idea is more than those who specialize in building an indoor area for staff to rest, her ideas more to reduce the production costs and time and bring people more green areas, so that people can relax in the spare time.
The artist symposium, each artist and designer gave me the deepest impression that their love of art is not just to say that they have a lot of work, not just to elaborate their thoughts, but each of them works every A design is their art on their own love to explore and discover the results of professional. I believe that this is every artist, the designer should do it. It also gave me great inspiration, a lot of power. I cherish this opportunity to listen to every artist’s symposium.
