C&D Preparatory prototyping (Week 4)

In this week I used a lot of different media to make EBB production, such as I have tried to put the paper on the printer and then move and scan them, create a different floating pattern and then use hot glue to decorate them, and finally use the camera and Open the flash to shoot them, this is to express the transparent object floating and falling effect. Use Photoshop to crop photos and draw some patterns to set them off, in order to create an abstract, overlapping and collage art effect.

Mixed media, main tools: hot glue gun, A3 / A4 paper。

C&D Preparatory prototyping (Week 3)

Recession, structure and suspension is the expression of this week, the use of different materials to create a different “EBB” effect, showing different “quality”, different shapes of the “flow”.

3D production, the main tools: carton board, plastic ball and soldering work in barn.

C&D Preparatory prototyping (Week 1)

Free and unrestrained. There are true feeling when I creating some drawing process in the first week. Main tools: cardboard, plain paper, brushes and India black ink.

Some of the design sense from the traditional Chinese calligraphy techniques “wild scribble”. Some inspiration comes from the mood of the day, through different feelings and combined with the verb “ebb” to paint.

CD. Final exhibition

In fact, at the end of the improve and check phase, we focused on the final idea in order to change the layout of the exhibition, make adjustments to the angle and double check the firmness of the works hanging. Kristy gave us a lot of feedback as well as suggestions and we discussed different way, we made a major change in the layout, first we picked off some works because the fishing lines and the hooks were not strong and we need to re-measure the fishing line. Our idea is to keep all the works on the roof, changing the initial top-down arrangement. And we changed the position of Peggy works, moved to the right. When we re-layout according to the idea and install them, the effect is surprising, compared to the previous layout of the work, we clever use of more places, so that in terms of angle to give the audience more choices to watch our work , In terms of the height of the work, we reduce the overall it, reducing the head so that the neck may cause pain. We are satisfied with the final decision and the effort we pay is rewarding and the reward is pretty good … personally, I enjoy the process of making the work.

Highlights: We cant borrow ladder again because the photographic equipment room is closed on Friday. Luckily we were looking for a large wooden box, and I thought it was safe and the fact that I was standing on it was no problem.

Personal design, created lines and used the Steel scalpel handle to crop leaves.

Crop finished, I went to the paint store to buy green magic color.

Final work:

webwxgetmsgimg (21).jpg

I am very random with a pen on the paper, tap the pen to swallow the pigment, in order to create a green natural atmosphere. I am enjoying this process because green is my favorite color and I feel comfortable when I do these things.

Research:

This is the resource I found in pinterest, they are interesting and gave me a lot of ideas about how to crop and organize them. I finally chose “leaves” as my personal subject in the group.

Group work:

We decided to choose to cut the different patterns on the cardboard and we chose different patterns to create and cut, and then prepared some tools including fishing lines, hooks, etc. (In fact, after the work we decided to use tape attached to the roof, so that we can fix our work to prevent them from falling) and frame, we draw “theme” and it in the frame.

webwxgetmsgimg (30).jpg

We think for a long time … on how to install, decorate and hang our work, this is the most difficult part, because we have to take care of the audience, visual effects, different angles can bring different feelings. Then we decided to put all the works side by side hang on the roof and in order to create a visual effect, we put the works, from top to bottom. My work is larger in size, put in the end, Emily works in front, then Peggy works. Allocate some tasks, we were very understanding and mutual helped each other. Surprisingly, our work efficiency, work quality is also greatly improved. I am responsible for roof suspension operations, Emily and Peggy are responsible for connecting cardboard and fishing lines, connecting them in series, fastening and observing the angle of suspension is correct, for the overall layout of the idea, we exchange views, programs. At the time of the initial layout, we tried the Peggy program.

As for how we hang on the roof, we borrowed the ladder from the photographic room.

CD. Individual project (Volcano model)

Prepare materials:

During the original model production, black foam paper is the main production model as a material. Considering tools, the main choice is craft knife, glue gun, ruler, red mark pen and scissors, etc., these tools are indispensable. Then I carried out the experiment, cutting a part of the foam paper, which is good to touch and people can observe the foam paper clearly. I chose it at the final stage because it is thick enough, and the other reason I am astonished that it is difficult to be snapped. This is also proven in my manual production process. As I want to express the volcanic level of relations, light and dark relations, etc., it can achieve these goals no matter how I tear, cut, and even use the pen to penetrate it.

Production process:

They are randomly placed, when you have no idea, this is the best idea. But when I do research on Pinterest I have found a lot of ways to make natural geography, terrain, etc.

One of the most attractive to me is that my excitement works are from a Japanese designer, Noriko Ambe, whose work is superb, one of which is my favorite, the model is unusually true, even if it is a white model. It is cut by hand, basically not use any tools.

After doing a lot of research,  I made a basic model based on my imagination.

Final work:

After getting feedback, I did the detail section and experiment with the lights,  the level of adjustment and shades and the use of each foam board. I thought I have done a lot of ways for the  improvement of the final project.

I have found works by many artists and designer whose work has attracted me, for instance, Noriko Ambe, she’s Japanese designer, her works is astonishing which is I most like work is also my goal that is what I mentioned in previous and she has  a famous saying is also make me feel art is closely related to life, everything you do art area, you love them, you are willing to give everything for it. The feeling is like something that a lot of people yearn for, so do I.

The sentence is: “Subtle and natural distortions convey the nuanes
of human emotions, habits, or biorhythms.” — Noriko Ambe.

Another American architect, Lebbeus woods, his a construction plan is attracted me, one of the DMZ construction model of digital drawing is very suitable for my project to explore and research. Is pay attention to details, each a small piece of building structure, layers and relationship between graphics and these ideas are my project should reflect and I learned something about architecture, so that when I was doing scale drawing, perspective drawing as well as found filed drawing. This is a reference value for my works.
